What kind of tile and natural stone grout surfaces do you restore?
We renew all kinds of tile (eg, ceramic, glass) and natural stone (eg, slate, granite, marble) grout. We serve both residential and commercial clients, cleaning walls, floors, countertops, backsplashes, bars, shower surrounds, fireplace surrounds and more! We clean grout in kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, screen porches, you name it!
Why does grout need cleaning?
Ceramic tile and natural stone are long-lasting surfaces that add timeless beauty and value to your home. But the grout between tiles is porous and will readily absorb dirt, spills and odors as soon as it is installed — even with regular mopping. Once it soaks in, it won't come out with ordinary cleaning agents. Without protection, the grout will soon look dirty and unevenly colored, spoiling the look of your entire room.
What does the cleaning and restoration process consist of?
Our process consists of cleaning, etching and application of a white or colored stain sealer.
- Cleaning: First, we protect the surrounding area with plastic sheeting. Then we use a deep-cleaning agent to remove years of dirt, oil, stains and synthetic finishes. We scrub the area with a brush and then soak up the dirty solution with an extractor. Finally, we rinse the area with clean water and then dry the floor with terry towels.
- Etching: We use an etcher to remove grout and mortar smears, mineral deposits and rust stains. This step is critical to the long-term bonding and integrity of the restoration process.
- Sealing: We apply our advanced, water-based, modified acrylic formula, which quickly bonds to grout lines to create an even color and appearance while locking out stains. It rejuvenates the original color or changes the color of the grout, depending on customer preference. There are more than 400 shades to choose from.
How long will I have to wait before I use the restored surface again?
The surface will be ready for use after 30 to 60 minutes, when it is dry to the touch. But it must be kept dry for seven days to cure properly. During this week, you can sweep and spot clean the title and grout as needed, but you should not wet mop it.
How do I care for my tile or natural stone after it's been restored?
Tile: Just sweep, dust mop or vacuum to remove loose dirt and debris. If needed, use a mild cleanser (eg, Mr. Clean, Windex, Lysol, Spic 'N Span) diluted into a gallon of warm water. Do not clean with bleach, vinegar or ammonia, because these solutions are too harsh and void our warranty. Do not steam clean. To prevent mineral buildup on shower surrounds, use a daily, spray-on shower cleaner.
Natural stone: Sweep, dust mop or vacuum to remove loose dirt and debris. If needed, add a few drops of stone cleaner into a gallon of warm water and apply with a soft cloth or wet mop. Rinse with clean water and dry with another cloth.
Does the sealer protect against everything?
There are some substances that can permanently discolor the sealer, including nail polish, waxes, dyes, paint and other harsh chemicals. Scratching and scuffing can also damage the surface. Heavily trafficked areas may require periodic touch-ups.
Are there any homemade cleaning solutions that I can use to keep my shower clean?
Yes, here's an easy, inexpensive recipe for shower cleaner that uses readily available ingredients. Just spray on after showers to keep mold and "bathroom slime" at bay:
Mix 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, six drops dishwashing liquid and 24 ounces water. Shake well. Store away from children.
Other tips to keep your shower clean include using a squeegee or towel to wipe down the shower after use and using a fan to dry out the shower really well once a week or so.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, we have a three-year warranty, although it will likely last for years longer.
Are you bonded and insured?
Yes, we will provide a certificate of insurance on request.
